The automobiles used today has come a long way since the days when self-propelled vehicles were the only transport medium available for car owners. Continuous improvements in suspension, steering and brakes have really made large contributions to riding comfort and safe driving.

If the suspension and brakes of your automobile are not functioning properly then you may not enjoy properly while driving. The suspension system of an automobile virtually suspends your vehicle above the ground and protects you from most of the bumps on the road as well as the forces produced while sharp turning or braking.

The suspension systems used in the modern automobiles are engineered in such a way that whenever your vehicle comes across any bump, then you only sense a slow gentle jerk instead of a powerful shocking bang. When the tire of your vehicle bangs with any obstacle on the road, then the shock gets absorbed simultaneously by springs, tires and shock absorbers. In order to experience smooth driving, it is very important to maintain your automobile’s suspension system. Firstly, make sure that shocks or struts installed in your automobile are leak proof. Secondly, ball joints must be checked at least two times in a year. Thirdly, at the time of changing oil in the engine, make certain that all the integral parts and components of suspension system are well lubricated.

Steering is the second most crucial component, which is used for operating and controlling the movement of the vehicle. Many technological improvements are taking place in the field of steering systems nowadays. Power steering is one of the widely used system in almost all the modern automobiles that assists a driver to have perfect control of the vehicle with the minimal effort. The carefully designed and properly constructed suspension and steering systems makes sure that the tires grip the road strongly, driver has the full control and passengers remain seated when the speedy vehicle is turned at the corner.

Effective and powerful brakes are the third most important part of the vehicle. Almost all the modern cars have dual circuit hydraulic brakes to make sure that one set of brake is functioning if the other set fails. Even, disc brakes used in some of the automobiles are more dynamic and affective than the conventional shoe brake systems. Most of the car manufacturers are now installing ventilated disc brakes in the front wheels so as to make them more precise and less prone to wear out because of over heating. Anti skid AB brake system is the another technology that is very popular and most sought after. In this type of technology, the pressure on brake is applied by an electronic system which releases the brakes several times for ensuring that wheel keeps moving and does not get locked up and result in an uncontrollable skid.

All these components are very much effective for the smooth functioning of an automobile. These components are mostly made of metal and rubber that are likely to wear and tear over the period of time. A regular check up of these three systems will provide you with the safe and comfortable driving pleasure all the time.
